A Tour Of City Through Eyes Of Nikon Camera: Amsterdam

Amsterdam is Venice of North. Netherlands’ largest and capital city, it’s the financial and cultural hub. It has given space for many institutions and headquarters and world’s top 500 companies have their offices here and seven of them have their headquarters here. Amsterdam Stock Exchange is oldest stock exchange in the world. The city is a well planned city, so compact that you can explore it while taking walks and best way is to rent a bicycle, that’s what most locals and tourist do. The city is ringed with canals and ornamented with historic monuments. Its best city, for an architecture study and also for exploring with your camera.

I was there for a week or so, for my company had send me to it’s headquarter there for small assignment and meetings. After my work and on weekends I had chance to explore the city with my companion there- my camera. I just went crazy clicking. Hey to inform you am no amateur photographer, am a pro.

Now let me take you through the scenic, beautiful and splendid land of Amsterdam- the City of Amstel River’s- canals and dams. City’s best click on places.

The Amstel River, the lifeline of Amsterdam is one terrific place to go mad clicking. The whole river is surrounded with many photogenic places. The river’s banks is a place, where you will get mesmerized, Amstel River, in the city center and outside of city limits is south of Amsterdam there is many spots where you will be rooted for its beauty. Some of this spots are:

  • Blauwarg is the Blue Bridge which is near to City Hall. The bridge has panoramic view on the both sides of the bridge. As you seek its northern side, it will give you the splendid view of City Hall and lined historic houses on the Binen Amstel.
  • As you turn to opposite side in the south you see the river sweeping up the land and on it is the Amsterdam’s most famed bridge- Magere Brug which is also Known As Skinny Bridge. On that side you will have the pleasant sight of Hermitage.
  • Hoge Brug or Sarphatistraat- just go there to see the river at its best view from there. Capture in your snap, the wide view of Magere Brug, Amsterdam’s Sluicegates. Also you will chance to look at its magnificence of Zuiderkerk a Southern Church’s tower in its background.
Picture Perfect- Groenburgwal Canal

It’s like God has made this place to get clicked all time, its all so beautifully poised and structured with the background of Zuiderkerk (Southern Church). Just take a walk on to the Stalstraat, which is between Kloverniersburgwal and the City Hall. While crossing the drawbridge over the Groenburgwal canal, there is this quietude of tree-lined on the canal’s edge. It’s perfect to mount your tripod and just keep clicking in the dawn or dusk. Let it be beautified with rays from the best flash of Sun.

Begijnhof is one of the old inner courts of Amsterdam. Its beguinage which is a convent has the serene and tranquil peace place, where silence is required. Its beauty is in its silence and tranquil environment that it gives. You don’t feel like talking, you just feel so calm here, even if you want to talk, you will just get a whisper out of your mouth. Located in the heart of city, though it is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city’s Kalverstraat that is its main shopping area, where nothing is quite but loud and engaging. As you enter Begijnhof, it transforms you to some remote century and is like you are going in past to click the snaps and such a beautiful pictures they are. You are going to struck with awe here.

Neighborhood that will completely fill your Memory Card

You can rate this neighborhood amongst best not only in Amsterdam but in the world. It possesses a multitude of attracting and interesting places which are art galleries, shops, markets, national monuments and restaurants.

  • Its pride is in having in its lap- The Anne Frank House. Your child will love its snaps. He will go around showing this legendry building’s snaps to his friends in school.

    I think I just fell in love with this; I have spent lot of my time here, photographing and shopping. This place was once General Post Office and now one the unique and such different shopping mall. It is like past meets the present. For the exterior of the mall is neo-gothic style, with striking towers, odd gargoyle (odd site too), arches, and some glorious spires. And even the interior is dominated with its past dazzle in central hall, which has rows of columns and arches. It’s such a superb colorful place to see with its shops and hustle and bustle of people.

It was such wonderful experience to watch this magnificent city through the eyes of my Nikon Camera. The city has its own charm, you are spell bound to its beauty and moreover you will love this unique blend it has. As Netherlands capital it has flourishes and has captured the minds of people for generations. As being the financial and cultural center, it attracts so many tourist from Europe and world over. Amsterdam made my photography learning its testimonial. The photos that I clicked are the best souvenir of this memorable trip to Amsterdam.
