Sopron – The Hungarian Paradise

If Old World charm is the key reason you visit Europe for, the Hungarian city of Sopron is exactly what the doctor ordered for your European holiday, as it is very much the epitome of the attribute. The area is a smorgasbord, for want of a better word, of historical attractions, and has the most number of monuments in the whole of Hungary.

Sopron is located at the border of Hungary and Austria, at the foot of the great Alps. Although in Hungary, Sopron is closer to Vienna, Austria’s capital than to Budapest, the Hungarian Capital. It is about 220 kilo meters from Budapest, and 60 kilometers from Vienna. Sopron has been a major center for culture, art and culture in Hungary, and the Sopron Wine is renowned.

There are also numerous religious places of worship and other monuments, which are significant in themselves, due to their extraordinary architecture and also due to their place in legend and myths or because of their association with historical incidents. These are really excellent ways of getting a piece of Sopron’s society, its history, culture and traditions.

The historical center of Sopron has numerous charming alleys, interesting buildings, and monuments dating back to the Medieval Period. There is a cornucopia of historical attractions in Sopron. The warm and friendly people Sopron has are helpful and extremely hospitable. They are extremely proud of the city and its heritage, and the lifestyle in the city is totally vibrant and vivid.

There is a great tradition of art, and the city respects and embraces great art. Many young men from Sopron have also been inspired to become artists. The heritage of art in Sopron goes back to more than 70 years old. The Sopron Festival Weeks that are organized every year, is well loved and attended by a large number of general public and aficionados. The spring days are also extremely interesting and have many attractions, and make for an immersive and engrossing experience. There are also many professional functions and fests that are held at regular intervals. The Pan European Meetings that take place in Sopron are also well attended, and have been instrumental in bringing more and more tourists to this area, and generally have spread awareness about this area, and have been giving a push in the right direction for Sopron’s Tourism.

The Sopron Wines are well known through out the world, and is appreciated by connoisseurs and tasters alike. The wine industry is a pretty big business, and has contributed much to the country’s economy. Wine tourism, pretty much like that of France, or Napa Valley in Californian, is also aimed at, and if successful will attract many tourists to Sopron. The Sopron Wine Festival is renowned through out Europe and is attended by wine experts and interested public. It is a great festival for wine and there are opportunities to taste and palate the wines as well. The wines have smooth texture, feels really lovely on the palate and the aftertaste is also heavenly.

Apart from the historic monuments, medieval architecture, museums galleries, vineyards, Sopron is also rich in natural abundance, with an incomparable and heavenly location at the foot of the Alps. The excellent natural surroundings are really excellent to get that feeling of total relaxation and a feeling of being one with the earth. The scenic mountainside with lovely thick woods with dense undergrowth, the verdant meadows, and the divine mountain air, the air of the Alps make have to be seen to be believed. The Lovérs is a really scenic spot and is a popular and much visited area for recreation. It is located in the South of the City.
