Paris: A City Of Romance

Paris which is called as a city of Romance is the capital of France and is the most populous city in the country with the approximate population is of 2,203,817 and the metropolitan region of Paris has 11,769,433 populations. This metropolitan is the most inhabited areas in Europe. This romancing city lies on the river Seine from the north of France and comprises two islands the Île Saint-Louis and the Île de la Cité.

Today, Paris no wonder, is among the world’s foremost business and cultural centres and is also among the world’s major global cities that manipulates politics, education, media, entertainment, science, fashion and also the arts that adds to its grade.

Those who love to walk can go around the Champs Élysée. It is a long and broad road followed with trees from both the sides of the road that will make your trip pleasing with ample of street cafés where you can hang on. Walking ahead you will get the Arc du Triomphe with full of traffic. It was made by Napoleon between the years 1806 and 1808. It was made to honor the French military triumphs in 1805. Once you reach at the top of Champs Élysée the view is superb but you should hire a car to look the base of the monument as the traffic is too risky.

Enjoy the Eiffel Tower during the time of evening as once you reach at the top of it, the brilliant light starts spreading in the entire city of Paris. To reach at the top of it at least 2-3 hours are needed. You have stand in queue for lifts that starts from the base of the Tower. During winter the tower is heavily crowded with tourists. You must not forget to wear warm clothes as at the top of the tower you will experience breezy and the cold temperature. A best place you ever visited like this, if you see at the bottom the entire city could be seen and the thing or people will look like a minute dust or ants. This is a wonderful experience so do not forget to visit at this world famous site.

Along with this do not forget to visit the Place de la Bastille which is another famous place where you will get a building named Opera house. Then the other place called as the Montmartre situated in the north of Paris, was actually a home to one of the landmark churches in Paris. Its red light district is another attraction.

For accommodations you don’t have to worry about. IT will just cost £500. If you want to stay at Eurostar, than it will cost £100 for a single person. During winter, three nights at Le General will cost £250 for two people and this will be cheaper if you book your room through Eurostar. The fee you have to pay at each museum is about £7. It’s not that easy to explore the entire city. There is so much to describe. If you spend a month in Paris, still that will not be enough for you. The more you loose your pocket the more you will enjoy your life in Paris.

Truly, the Turks are right who said that “all roads lead to Paris”. This magnificent city is a magic that sparks a brilliant light on you and you just can’t stop moving on to the streets of Paris which is not only a city of love but also a cultural Mecca. So at least try to spend an evening in Paris and see the magic.

Andros is a very striking island. It is very close to Athens next to Tinos. It is the island of Greek origin and the island of Cyclades with full of picturesque and traditional villages. It gives you a glance of Cycladic and Venetian architecture, with arcades and narrow paved alleys with bright flowers. It is an amazing holiday destination with natural beauty. It is the second largest island after Naxos. The island has plentiful of running water and located 89 miles from Piraeus and 36 from Rafina and it covers the area of 373 sq km. Andros is well known for Sariza spring at Apoikia it is the site of a fountain where water comes out from lion head. Arvanite community is located on the north of Andros. A village in Sicily known as Piana degli Albanesi named as “Hora” after being the capital of Andros. While on the hillside there is harbor’s breakwater which is visible in the deep underwater in the center of the island and is known as Palaeopolis.

Palaeopolis is the ancient capital on the west coast of the Andros. There is famous temple in the town devoted to Dionysus. The ships were sent to Xerxes in 480 BC and were harassed by the Greek fleet. While the Delian League is saved from Athens, this forced to build and cleruchy on the island and proclaimed freedom to Andros from Athenian attack. The island was again captured by archon who was the member of the second Delian League. In the period of Hellenistic the island was made a frontier post by the naval powers of the Macedon, Aegean Sea, and Ptolemaic Egypt. It was further freed by Ptolemy of Egypt in 308. The island was given to Macedon after the Chremonidean War which was fought on the shores. The island was in Turkish rule from 1207 to 1566 AD and was in control of Sommarvia and Zeno under the protection of Venetian. While after some years the rest of Greece joined to gain control in island in 1821. Theophilos Kairis was one of the leaders of the Greek Revolution declared War of Independence on 10th May 1821. He raised the flag on the St. George church and gave a speech was called as “Rhetoras”, and after this speech the rich merchants and ship owners contributed funds to build a Greek Navy fight with the Ottomans.

How to reach Andros

There are no direct flights to Andors. You have to reach Athens from there you have to reach Rafina. The port of Rafina to Andros takes 2 hours. Athens International Airport is connected with major destinations of the world. There are daily regular bus services from Tinos, Mukonos, and Paros islands to reach Andros Island. The Gavrion port is also a good choice to reach Andros there are several beaches on this port and it also provides connections with Andros town, Batsi, Gavrion and Korthi Bay. There are flights to Mykonos from there you can get bus to reach Andros and there are 15 international airports in Greece and have regular domestic and international flights to Athens and Mykonos.

Chora Village is a little lovely town and is the capital of Andros. It is the most interesting village of Andros. It is located on the east coast of Andros between the beaches of Neiborio and Paraporti.

Agios Petros beach located towards the central of Batsi is one of the amazing seaside villages. The tower of Agios Petros is located on this beach and small walk and ride on the west part of this beach give you a life time memorable experience. This beach gives you feeling of living in a dream.

Andros Foundation of Goulandris is the Museum of Contemporary Art established in 1979. It shows the work of M Tombros who was the well known sculptor of Andros. It also showcases the work of well known Greek artists and international artists.

Goulandris MuseumDipotamata Valley on Andros is the natural beautiful area on the south east side of Andros and extended up to 7 km between the villages of Kochylou, Syneti, and Paleokastro.
